Welcome to the development blog for Mycrocosm. We will periodically post annoucements here, and it also acts as a place to get feedback from users of Mycrocosm and other interested parties.
Would be nice to know a bit more… the value, #books, seems relevant to the visualization. I realize pie charts are 0-100% by design, but the count that translates into the pie piece would be nice additional info.
Hi Bart, To sign up you need to have an OpenID account, however you may have one already, yahoo and aol accounts, among others, already act as OpenIDs. You can see some of your options by clicking on the login box on the front page of Mycrocosm. A little box will drop down to help you login in case you already have an OpenID. It also provides links to where you can get an OpenID account.
Thanks clickykbd, i will likely make this an option in future. I feel there are some times when you may be trying to create a sense of proportion, and may even ‘fake’ the numbers, but i do agree that for some datasets one really does want to know the magniture.
i don’t know why this is, but there seem to be no good infographics toolkits/charting systems that deal with sets. which seem to be a powerful way of making statements about oneself (like the award winning http://www.indexed.blogspot.com) – i’d love to see mycrocosm support those. and twitter integration.
Love the idea – anyway of getting two features –
1) Embed your graph/chart/mycrocosm
2) Firefox extension to add data to your datasets
Keep the work going on the project!

Having fun! One thought…
For graphs like this one:

It’s probably me, but where can I sign up? Or do I first need to login with openID?
